Our Story

In 2007, Traceway started with a few families meeting together in a house in the Briars.  And after one or two meetings, we had our first church split...well at least we split up the adults and the kids.  Each Sunday night, the adults met in one house and the kids met in a neighboring house to explore what it meant to "be the church."  After a few months of praying and growing together, Traceway held its first public service on the Mississippi College campus.

From that time, we have continued to grow and explore what it means to be the church rather than to just "do church."

Today, we are reaching into the community with experiments like ReGifting and are continually learning what it really means to "love the Lord [our] God with all [our] heart, soul, mind and strength" and to "love [our] neighbors as much as we love ourselves."

Our Leadership

  John Richardson

John is the founding pastor of Traceway.  He is a graduate of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary and has been serving as a senior pastor for about 10 years.  He and his wife (J.D.) have 3 daughters...and while they love them dearly, three is all they can handle!  You can contact John at john@tracewaychurch.org  Additionally, you can follow John's blog here.

    Travis Bounds

Travis is the founding Worship Leader at Traceway.  Prior to coming to Clinton, he served in churches across Mississippi and Louisiana.  Travis and his wife, Keni, have 4 boys ranging in age from 13 to 4.  He enjoys Southern Miss athletics, camping and playing golf (among other things).  You can contact Travis at travis@tracewaychurch.org

Rebecca Harper

Rebecca serves as the Children's Ministry Team Leader.  She is a wife to Josh, mom to Jordan and an Administrative Assistant at African Bible Colleges.  While parents play a crucial role in the Children's Ministry, Rebecca keeps this ministry organized and focused on loving and encouraging our children.

   Reid Vance

Reid serves as a Teaching Pastor and Small Groups Coordinator.  Reid has an extensive history with church planting and also works on the faculty of Mississippi College.  In his free time, Reid works as a play by play sportscaster and follows the Chicago Cubs faithfully. (One day, they'll make it Reid!  Just don't hold your breath.)

Youth Minister

As of January, 2012, we are seeking a minister to oversee our youth environments.

Our Beliefs

God - We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and
Holy Spirit. He is perfect in every way, including holiness. He is all knowing (past,
present and future), all powerful and ever present.

Jesus - We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, through conception by the Holy
Spirit. During His life on earth, He honored the Father through perfect obedience and
in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men
from sin and death. that He is true God and man. After His crucifixion, He rose bodily
from the dead, and ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father
as our Mediator. He is fully God and fully man, in whom is effected the reconciliation
between God and man and He will serve as the final judge of all mankind.

Holy Spirit - We believe in the Holy Spirit as the fully divine teacher of humanity. He
influenced certain individuals in the Old Testament and inspired the various writers of
the Bible. Today, He enables men to understand truth. He convicts men of sin, of
righteousness, and of judgment. He points all people to Jesus. At the point of
regeneration, the believer is spiritually baptized into the Holy Spirit, being indwelled
by the fullness of Him and sealed for eternity by His presence.

Scripture - We believe in the Bible as God’s Word, written through men, divinely
inspired and a perfect rule for faith and practice. It is the only existing physical source
of absolute truth and it can be fully trusted. The Bible is the supreme standard by
which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried.

Humanity - We believe that God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but
they defied God by sinfully going their own way. The sinfulness of humanity caused a
breach in our relationship with God which can only be healed by the saving grace of
God.

Salvation - We believe that eternal salvation is the free gift of God, entirely apart
from man’s works, and is available to all who through faith in Jesus have made Him
Lord of their lives.

Eternity - We believe in the second coming of Jesus. We believe in the bodily
resurrection of the dead, the eternal joy of heaven for the believers and the eternal
punishment and separation from God of the unsaved in hell. We believe that death is
not the end, but rather the door to eternity for all people.

There's much more that can be said about why we believe what we believe.  If you want to know more, please feel free to contact us at info@tracewaychurch.org
