When you come to Traceway for the first time, you will find that the people are relaxed and inviting. While (virtually) any attire is accepted, most men wear something like jeans and a knit shirt. Women also come dressed comfortably, weaing jeans or pants and a comfortable shirt.
When you walk in for an adult Small Group (they start at 9:15), you will notice that the rooms are decorated like a den or living room. There is typically a couch, several chairs, a couple tables, lamps, pictures and a TV. The small groups typically have 8-10 people per group and there is one person who serves as the facilitator (don't worry-no surprises-it won't be you!). These groups are not designed for lengthy teaching, but rather for real life discussion. Your group may watch a DVD lesson to jump start the discussion or the facilitator may have a topic and some Bible passages prepared for the group's interaction. We find that the best way to really learn about God and the Bible is not to sit and hear a lesson, but rather to interact and learn from real life situations that people a lot like you have encountered. These groups last about an hour.
For children, there are small groups that meet down the hall from the adult groups. These groups are age specific for your children and are designed to teach your child a specific virtue each week (for example - patience, kindness, love...). Your child will play with other kids, learn a bible story and work towards learning a memory verse related to their virtue for the month. We ask that during small groups and worship, you leave your cell phone on vibrate so that we can page your phone if your child needs you.
At 10:30, we have our main worship service. This time lasts for about an hour. It includes several worship songs (contemporary songs and traditional hymns), led by a praise team. The praise team will include instuments like guitar, bass guitar and keyboards. The worship service also includes videos, 20-30 minutes of teaching and a few other worship elements mixed in.
Childcare is provided during the worship service for children 5 and under. Additionally, once each month, the children (all ages) have a specific worship service of their own. This is a time for them to worship in a more age appropriate style.
